Dave “Prousty” Proust
Foresters Beach, Australia
I had the pleasure of touring the country on What’s Up Downunder (channel 10 travel show) with this very entertaining man. He had me in tears laughing and then tears of sadness all within the same performance. He is a man of great depth with a heart too big for his body. Put your hands together for PROUSTY…
Name: Dave Proust
Age: 56
Star sign: Don’t know or care,
Occupation: Fire fighter, comedian, bush poet, plumber.
Family/marital status: Married to Therese for 35 years, 6 kids (2 girls 4 boys) 10 grandkids.
Where do you live? Foresters Beach, Central Coast NSW
Hard moment in life: Telling Therese’s mums she was pregnant at 19 when we’d only been together for 4 months. Did not go down well considering they were a strict catholic family. However, my biggest mistake ended up being my biggest triumph.
Favourite memory: Traveling in a 5 berth caravan with Therese and the 6 kids for 6 months around Australia. Best part was what we did as a family, including:
- Spent three days on a tuna boat in Port Lincoln;
- Lived in an aboriginal community for 2 weeks; and
- Went with a professional kangaroo shooter and watched him shoot 60 kangaroos.
Favourite quote: My life motto is “Think young be young”.
My Happiness is: My family.
A song that moves me is: State of the Heart by Mondo Rock
My happy place is: The bush
