Yoga is one of the best forms of exercise I have found that gives as much benefit for the mind as it does for the body…. I love it. So when I came across Vibes Fitness in Fitzroy and saw they offer aerial yoga classes, I just had to try it!
The studio is bursting with energy and a vibrancy that draws you in immediately. As soon as you walk through those doors you feel a boost and Margie and her team are on hand to make you feel welcome, they’re a friendly bunch! There’s even a couple of cute little moggies to greet you as you arrive.
Well I have to say, that aerial yoga was an experience in itself, and Margie was a wonderful teacher – extremely patient with me at beginner level. It’s described as a cross between a number of training techniques including yoga, pilates, gymnastics and suspension training, so you are working a lot of muscles, strengthening your core and stretching your body and spine. It’s definitely a full body workout. Having seen the more experienced aerial yogis, I would love to get up to a more advanced level, it’s amazing to watch.
While I was there, I met an amazing girl called Lexie…. if you haven’t seen Lexie flying with Margie, make sure you watch episode 5 of Destination Happiness. This girl has a smile that lights up the whole studio, she’s amazing. Thanks for letting us join your session Lexie, you’re a star!
