Mike Stangel is an inspiration. He’s an incredible musician and international music producer, (you might know his face from being a finalist on The Voice). His tough exterior mirrors his even tougher interior. A proud father, and adoring husband, he constantly reminds me to ‘live in the moment’ as he tackles life obstacles with such grace and poise.

Hardest moment in my life… Being told I only had months to live.
I have been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Myxoma. It’s a very
Primitive type of tumor as it is both benign and malignant in its behavior.
The trick is for the human to create an environment for it to stay in a benign state. It’s very rare to have it in the heart and brain as I do. There are only 20 odd cases of it happening in medical history.
I remain in a state of peril but do not let it bother me, as I’m sure the moment it does, I will fall to its game.
What helps you get through such hard times? Knowing that things can never get worse than what I have been through – other than death or death of a loved one.
Favourite quote: I have two…I saw this one on a film called The Grey. It spoke loudly to me. It’s a metaphor for “While there is life we must never give up.
“One more into the fray
Into the last good fight I will ever know
Live or die on this day
Live or die on this day”.
Another one is “Carpe Diem” which means, “Seize the Day”.
My conviction is strong enough to etch them in ink on my body as a reminder if I ever waver in the belief of the mind.
The song that moves me is… The Manfred Man version of Blinded by the light.
My happy place is… On stage playing to an appreciative crowd.
My little secret is… Be scared of no man and only a few women.
