I don’t know about you, but I find school lunches a bit of a burden most of the time. Finding a balance between what is healthy, what the kids will actually eat and what is convenient and quick to throw together in the morning craziness can become increasingly stressful.
Gone are the days where you pack your kids off with Fairy Bread sandwiches, a packet of Twisties and a bottle of cordial to wash it down. We have come a long way in understanding the nutritional impacts on learning and development and quite rightly, our schools want their students eating a healthy well balanced lunch to get the most our of their day. Oh, and while you’re at it, don’t send any packaging, it’s bad for the environment – my daughter is completely convinced that a dolphin will die every time a small piece of glad wrap makes its way into her lunch box.
So when we met George Georgievski creator of School Lunch Box, I felt all my school lunch conundrums had been resolved! George, you’re a genius.
His approach to the school lunch is healthy, inventive, delicious and most importantly EASY! The kids can even help to throw the lunches together themselves.
George even pops in a theme for Fridays where he packs a lunch inspired by a specific country for that week. It’s called Heritage Friday and the kiddies get a little lesson in international cuisine.
And when it comes to avoiding all the packaging and wrapping, George has teamed up with Stuck on You to make the most of these wonderful bento boxes that provides all the little compartments and containers you need to keep your lunch fresh.
So if you’ve been experiencing lunch box anxiety, George is your man. If you didn’t get to see him on episode 10, head to 9Now to catch up. You can also check out his website and Instagram page for a fresh feed of lunch box ideas.
Thanks George!
