Peninsula Hot Springs Victoria, Australia
I must admit, before I tagged along on a trip to the Peninsula Hot Springs, I really hadn’t looked into what it was all about. I was just glad to get out of the house, leave the three kids with the hubby for the day and have a few hours of chit chat with my girlfriends.
So it was a huge bonus to emerge from an hour or two of bathing feeling completely on top of the world. My body was tingling and alive – I was ready to face the world and take on my responsibilities (mother, wife, work) with energy and enthusiasm.
Maybe I should start every day with a mineral bath!
So what wondrous things were happening to me as I sat in those magical hot springs, I wondered? Beautiful pools of varying temperatures (some really very hot) in gorgeous settings amongst delightful countryside and sweeping views – how had they turned my mood from “Just be grateful for a couple of precious hours of peace before returning to domestic doom.” to “Bring it on world – I’m ready to face anything!!!!” ?
Well, apparently bathing in highly mineralised water is said to have a number of therapeutic and health benefits such as:
- improved circulation
- promotes energy
- reduces hight blood pressure
- helps to detox your body
- improves the health of your skin
- eases suffering from rheumatic or arthritic conditions
- the boron content is also said to increase brain activity – and some of us need all the help we can get in that area!!!
Since then, I’ve also read about the benefits of how getting back to nature for some ‘ecotherapy’ can enlighten the senses and lift your moods.
When we move away from our screens and open our eyes to the world, to nature, beautiful scenery, sweeping hills, ocean views, sea breezes or sun showers, we invigorate the senses that are pretty much turned off while we are sitting hunched over our emails, tinkering away on one of our many electronic devices or battling through the never ending household chores.
When these senses are turned back on, it gives us the opportunity to think more creatively – this is when some of the best light-bulb moments can hit you.
Hooray for nature!!!
Peninsula Hot Springs offers all the beauty of nature for your viewing, whilst your body soaks in the therapeutic hot spring mineral baths – the perfect pick me up.
I would definitely recommend a trip to the baths, particularly if you are feeling a bit weary – be it mentally or physically – either way you’re sure to get a lift. And let’s face it – when you’re in Melbourne, there’s not many days of the year where a hot bath doesn’t sound inviting.
A couple of tips….
- If you’re looking for complete tranquillity, either book a private bath or pick a week day (not school holidays) as it gets pretty busy on a weekend.
- Even though there are silent baths, some people just can’t quite stop talking (we all know one).
- There is also an adults only bath for over 16’s.

There are a number of different packages and apparently the food is amazing as well. Might be worth making a day or weekend of it!!
Happy bathing 🙂
