So, when I had the chance to meet him in person, I couldn’t wait to see if this guy is for real – I mean, can someone run on high-octane like that 24/7? And what is the secret to remaining so positive, driven and focused? This man does not disappoint!
Gary speaks fast, he speaks directly with ultimate intention and loves to pepper his advice with the odd f-bomb, creating a blend of vigour, intelligence and excitement that commands your attention from the minute he opens his mouth.
Gary has always been a mover and shaker starting with a lemonade stand at age 7 then moving onto a lucrative business trading baseball cards throughout his schooling. After graduating college he turned his father’s liquor business into the first eCommerce platform in the industry and took its trade from $3M p/a to $60M. Today he is CEO of Vayner Media which he co-founded with his brother and has helped countless businesses grow in a similar fashion. So what are his secrets to success?
“My great passion is to redefine what success looks like. And turn it from something that is around money and make it around, you know, happiness and just feeling light.”
A lot of Gary’s advice centres around following your dream rather that following the dollars. When you have a passion for something, build your life around it and the dollars will follow. If you’re constantly chasing money, you will just want more and never find true happiness.
“I’m driven by gratitude. I’m incapable of being upset around things that don’t matter. And everything besides the health of dying people, it doesn’t matter.”
“I think that doing the right thing and being the bigger person in every situation is always right. I think that happiness is remarkably quiet. And negativity is extremely loud. And so do not allow that to confuse you of how great things are.”
It is clear that Gary doesn’t get bogged down dwelling on the small stuff, he has an infectious attitude that radiates positivity and a no-bullshit method of delivering his message.
