This Week on Destination Happiness..
David and Yuge Bromley
As one of Australia’s most recognisable artists, David Bromley knows what it means to be successful. Despite multiple periods of mental illness, David and his wife Yuge have created Bromley and Co, their design business, where they’ve been able to use their past experiences to inform their art. David’s candid description of his emotional struggles and how his artistic purpose has supported his health is raw and inspiring.
Chris Wilson – Yoke Yoga
Founder of Yoke Yoga, Chris Wilson has a mantra to “meet his challenging feelings with kindness,” which means that he takes the negative or positive label off an emotion as it arises in order to be able to confront it more fully. As Chris says “if we ignore our emotions, they get more intense, but if we learn to welcome our emotions in, we’re able to learn from it.”
Chris Mackey – Flow
For this week’s Happy Mind segment, resident psychologist Chris Mackey speaks to us about flow. Being in a state of flow is when we’re fully absorbed in what we’re doing, barely aware of the passage of time. Doing activities which cause us to enter a state of flow helps us to recognise that happiness in life often comes from the attainment of positive experiences, rather than the simple pursuit of material goods.
Jem Fuller – Leaders in Life in the Himilayas
Founder of Leaders in Life, Jem Fuller takes groups of business minded people to the Himalayas in India to completely immerse themselves in the beauty of nature in order to be able to more fully consider their thoughts, rather than being at the mercy of daily distractions. This is a technology free experience that participants report to be often ‘life-changing”.
Epworth Hospital patients
This week, thanks to Morris Finance, we’re off to the Epworth Hospital with our pamper team to find some deserving patients for some special pamper treats to make their day.
Chocolate Cake
This week, courtesy of Cobram Estate, Dr Joanna McMillan brings us a delicious chocolate cake. See our website for the detailed recipe after the show.
Wellbeing Tip
Glowing Skin
This week, resident naturopath Lindsey Ingleton talks to us about how-to best care for our skin. Avoiding processed and refined sugars as well as keeping hydrated are some ways that we can care for our complexion.
Discovery Parks – Pambula Beach
Nestled between the beachfront and Ben Boyd National Park, Discovery Parks Pambula Beach has all you need for an excellent getaway.
If you haven’t been caravanning for a while (or ever), this is a great reminder of all the reasons you should get out and try it.
Happy Homes
Sam Buckby – Smarter Buildings
Our home should be our sanctuary. Somewhere we can escape all the worries of the world and just relax. Well Sam Buckby from Smarter Buildings has some wonderful advice on keeping our homes safer, more convenient and more efficient.
