Set along side the tranquility of a beautiful billabong on the outskirts of Sydney is a gorgeous wellness escape called the Billabong Retreat. If you’re looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle, reboot and find some inner peace this place certainly has to be on your list of places to visit. Billabong […]
From something as simple as pitching a tent next to a river, to the more luxurious and indulgent health retreats, we're going to take a look at where people go to recharge their batteries and reboot their minds.
I love the term reboot - it has worked on every technical device I've ever operated. It's the only way I know how to fix any technological instrument. Simply turn it off - wait a bit - then turn it back on. Whammo! Your gismo or gadget is working again!
So when your mind goes a bit haywire or experiences a bit of a glitch, a reboot will probably do you wonders. Turn that thing off and leave it a while.
Now, not everyone's idea of winding down is the same. While some might love the thought of dropping a line in the water on the banks of a river, waiting patiently for a fish to come along - the same scenario might send the next person into a lather of sweat (I don't want to touch the stinky bait, please don't let me catch a fish, I'm terrified that slimy flippy thing on the end of the hook). Others may love the though of a silent yoga retreat, which we know others would be completely horrified by. It's just a matter of finding what suits you and allows you to relax your mind.
So at Destination Happiness we are selflessly going to sample as many of these getaways as possible. Given that it's likely that our hubbies won't let us leave the family behind and go on one long rolling resort sampling mission, we will be also be drawing on the experiences of other like minded travellers.
Get your suitcase ready travellers, you know our destination...

It’s hard to put into words how beautiful Gaia Retreat actually is, perched in the hinterland of Byron Bay, the setting is one of beauty and tranquility. And the moment you step inside, you understand that this retreat has so much to offer in terms of rest, relaxation and wellness. While I was at Gaia, […]
As a little kid, driving down to Lorne with the family, the highlight of our trip was spotting the amazing Pole House perched up on the hill in Fairhaven. It was a sight to behold, like something out of a story book. So when Destination Happiness scheduled to film the Great Ocean Road, I just […]
The North Shore, Oahu Although my efforts as a surfer were somewhat futile as a teenager, I love surfing. I could spend hours watching the gods and goddesses of the surf, carve waves, ride barrels, layback, kick-flip, kick out or even wipeout! Our home for the next 6 days is the Turtle Bay Resort on […]
First Stop, Waikiki There are five things that take me to my happy place. Spending time with my family, meditation, writing, exercising in nature and travelling. Fortunately for me I work in the Travel Industry and get to Travel a lot. Of all the trips I do each year, my favourite is our Family holiday because […]
